SPRING SUMMER 2016
H PROJECT had access all areas at the ASLI POLAT catwalk at London fashion Week.
Asli Polat has envisioned her collection for the Spring Summer 2016 season with a distinctively nostalgic wave of romanticism, hailing from the heart stricken ballads of America’s country music icons.
The brand’s now signature feminine sports styles are seen throughout the collection – which itself swings between relaxed masculine undertones and the ultra-feminine – much like the daring TV singers who inspired it.
Minimalist silhouettes reminiscent of the 60’s aesthetic are modernised throughout, with barely there mini-skirts, prim lightweight overcoats and flattering two piece overlaid crop tops. Classic cotton A-line skirts are reworked to include oversized deep pocket detailing, whilst traditional cuts take a youthful twist with dresses including oversized wrap-round bows.
Signature styles return for SS16 including; the androgynous button up silk georgette collar shirt, culottes and bomber jacket – re-envisioned with playfully flirtatious details including exaggerated frills, broderie anglaise and intricate embellishment.
Cotton Guard military inspired pieces in khakis green with heavier away pleats or split leg skirting introduces a mood of durability and the boyish ease of the all American outdoors – while stage worthy shimmering skirts and dresses in silver and light green jacquard offer a sequin blurred nod to Tammy Wynette, Nancy Sinatra and Dusty Springfield. Long sleeved and nipped at the waist – shirts for SS16 are combined with laced tied, bow strewn sleeves, cowgirl shouldered and made in silken crisp white cotton.
A collection of innocent love, sex and heartbreak played out against a backdrop of constantly contrasting feminine and masculine themes – Asli Polat‘s modern woman is vulnerable yet indefinably strong.
Asli divides her time between New York and London and is set to present her third collection for Spring Summer 2016 during London Fashion Week, showing with On|Off– the independent global fashion showcase.
